Why is Little Reader so effective?

Fun for your child

The key to success in teaching your little one to read lies in your ability to engage your child's attention - not for one day, two weeks, or even three months, but continuously.

Playback Variety

Little Reader is better at engaging your child's interest than any other system thanks to the power of the software at its heart, making lessons more dynamic and varied than would be possible with any other medium.

For example, each time your child is taught the word "dog", she will not only see the word in a different color and font, she will also see a different " dog", hear a different voice, see a different video, and be prompted to interact in a different way.

Such variety not only helps maintain your child's attention, it also teaches the meanings of words far more precisely than would be the case using single media.

This degree of playback variety is simply not possible with flash cards or DVDs, which have little or no room for variation in terms of lesson presentation.

Personalized Lessons

Another key feature of Little Reader is the ease with which it is possible to personalize lessons - making learning to read that much more meaningful for your child.

What does personalization mean? Take the word "eyes." Instead of simply relying on the preinstalled pictures and voices that come with the word, you could use pictures of Mommy's eyes, Daddy's eyes, Grandpa's eyes, and your child's eyes - and have family members record themselves saying the word "eyes."

While personalization is optional, the small amount of effort involved will definitely be worth your while. Nothing will engage your child"s interest in reading more than pictures and sounds he recognizes from his own life.

As with playback variety, customization is less easy to achieve with other media platforms.

Various Lesson Types

Little Reader offers a variety of lesson styles. By flashing words and pictures (in the style of flash card lessons), Little Reader lessons take advantage of your child's right-brain abilities, which remain strong up to the age of 6.

Multisensory lessons, meanwhile, provide the opportunity for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. In the case of the latter, your child will be encouraged to perform actions relating to the word or phrase. Besides engaging different types of memory, multisensory lessons encourage physical interaction, making learning a truly active experience.

Little Reader phonics and grammar lessons are also highly effective, thanks to color-coded words and sentences. With the patterns in words and syllables made clear, children can begin deciphering written language effortlessly.

Download Library

Unlike other learning systems, Little Reader is made to be constantly evolving. Not only will your software be continually upgraded for free, but your library of content can be expanded greatly with just a few mouse clicks!

Say, you have a child who can't get enough of animal lessons. Simply download more animal categories from the forum to keep your little one happy.

Meanwhile, if you're looking for high-quality foreign language content, you've come to the right place. With Little Reader, you can download content created by native speakers in over two dozen languages!

The BrillKids online library houses over 2,500 reading lessons in 27 subject categories and more than two dozen languages. Most are available for free, and all can be easily imported into your Little Reader.

Easy for you

New to early learning and not sure what to teach? Perhaps you have a busy schedule with limited time to prepare lessons. We designed Little Reader with your child's first and best teacher - YOU - in mind. Our system has been tried and tested by thousands of parents, and comes to you with functions as user-friendly as they are powerful.

Ready-Made Curriculum

Little Reader comes equipped with a 12-month curriculum that you can follow daily, simply by pressing the play button! Freed of the tedious task of lesson preparation, you can get on with enjoying the bonding experience of teaching your child.

Over the course of a year, your child will see over 3,000 words in more than 180 subject categories. The same list of words is never shown on two consecutive days - instead, one word from each category is added while another one is retired daily.

A typical word is packaged with 5 pictures, 3 pronunciations, 1-2 videos, and 2 picture-commentary audio files. These media files are rotated so that the same word plays back differently each time.

Comprehensive in its scope and design, our curriculum will guide your child in a systematic and progressive fashion: from sight-reading single words, to sounding out groups of words, to reading complete stories - all within 12 months.

All that is needed from you is the commitment to teach your child for 10 minutes once or twice a day, not including weekends.

Customization Tools

Personalizing your lessons is made easy with Little Reader's intuitive interface, and built-in tools such as the Picture Editor and the Easy Voice Recorder, which allows you to record and edit images and pronunciations simply and conveniently.

Effective Phonics Teaching

Although whole-word reading is useful and appropriate for babies and toddlers, being able to decode words phonetically is critical to long-term reading success.

Traditional phonics methods require the vocalization of letter sounds and are generally only suitable for children aged 3 and above. With Little Reader's unique Pattern PhonicsTM system, your child will not only be able to start learning phonics as a baby, but she will do so in the most natural and intuitive way possible.

In much the same way as babies unconsciously absorb, and intuitively decipher, speech patterns, they are also capable of absorbing and deciphering word patterns. Pattern Phonics™ works by showing words in patterns that facilitate and accelerate a child's natural ability to decode written language.
